What makes a European car repair different
European cars are built in their own way, and repairing them properly takes more than straightening a panel and painting it.
Mixed materials
Many BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar and Land Rover models combine aluminium with high-strength steel. Each material has its own repair method. Some steel parts must not be heated or straightened and are replaced instead. Aluminium is repaired in a dedicated aluminium repair bay, with its own tools, so steel dust can’t contaminate it. Read more about our aluminium car body repairs.
Manufacturer repair methods
European makers publish detailed repair methods for each model. They set out which parts can be repaired, which must be replaced and how each joint is made. We plan every repair from these methods, and the plan is reflected in your written quote.
Genuine parts
We quote genuine parts where the repair calls for them and list every part on your written quote. Which parts your insurer pays for depends on your policy. Our guide to genuine parts for European cars explains your options.
Driver-assist systems
Most recent European cars use cameras and radar for features like emergency braking, lane keeping, parking sensors and adaptive cruise control. After the repair, these are checked and calibrated where the manufacturer requires it, and any calibration is listed on your quote.
Paint that matches
European paint colours often use metallic and pearl effects. We colour-match and blend into the panels next to the repair, so the finish matches the rest of the car.
Electric and plug-in hybrid cars
Before any body or paint work starts, the high-voltage system is made safe, following the manufacturer’s procedure. We’re authorised by Tesla to buy genuine Tesla parts and repair to Tesla’s methods. See EV and Tesla smash repairs.

Insurance Repairs
We work with all major insurers, and if you weren’t at fault you can usually choose your own repairer.
Alloy Wheel Repairs
Repair scratched, damaged or gutter-rashed wheels. Wheel colour changes are available too.
Ceramic Coating
A ceramic coating helps keep your freshly repaired car glossy and easier to clean.
Insurance claims on European and prestige cars
Not at fault
If another driver caused the crash and you’re claiming from their insurer, you can usually choose who repairs your car. When the at-fault driver’s insurer pays for the repair, you pay $0, and there’s no excess on your own policy. A hire car and third-party recovery are arranged through our third-party partner, subject to their eligibility and terms. Read more about not-at-fault accident repairs.
Claiming on your own policy
You pay only your insurer’s excess, and your insurer pays the rest of the approved repair. Whether you can choose your repairer depends on your policy. Check your policy, or ask us about your options before your car is moved.
Paying privately
You’ll get a clear written quote, and no work starts until you approve it.
